Individual Psychotherapy

“Why am I here again? I thought I was over it.”

Situations at work, at home or with yourself are so frustratingly familiar, outside your control, and never seem to change.

You know you’re not over it – the frustration stays, and the hopelessness sets in.

On most days you feel some restlessness about yourself that you attribute to some circumstance outside of you.

“I want to change but just don’t know how.”

As you attempt to resolve conflicts and take better care of yourself, and don’t get the results you imagined, you start to lose trust in your own ability to improve your life.

The support within you feels more and more out of reach, as does the support outside of you.

You can’t seem to access your resources.

Therapy is an act of courage

It is a leap of faith into what might even feel scary, or terrifying, depending on your history and the trauma you have survived.

It can also be “a parking spot,” a place where you get to talk and be listened to, but where not much happens.

Yet, some of that anxiety begins to lift, hope comes in, the pain becomes bearable and changes start to occur. A little at a time.

A Chance to Fully Explore Who You Are.

The entanglements and pain of the past are there to be seen and even uncovered, yet the human psyche tends to hold onto pain in an effort to repair itself.

The experience of pain in the body or in the heart developed as an adjustment to some form of stress or trauma.

It does not go away by itself. It calls for your attention in an effort to “make it right,” to repair an experience or some part of yourself that no longer feels whole.

There will be times when you and I might feel stuck.

When that happens, we will explore more deeply, look at what we are getting away from, and how can we find
our way back to you.

We allow your impetus to keep moving towards health, and your sense of what’s stopping you
from getting there, guide us.

And I listen. We both listen.

A Resilient Self, Taking Strides to a Brighter Future

In therapy, you learn the pain and the losses never really go away.

But your relationships to those losses – to those people, to your thoughts and feeling – change.

You will feel hope, become energized, and your heart will open again to new relationships, new experiences, and new beginnings.
